Johnny Maestro, born John Peter Mastrangelo in 1939 on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, was an American pop and doo-wop singer who spent decades as a lead vocalist. He fronted The Crests in the late 1950s, scoring a top-five hit with '16 Candles', and later led The Brooklyn Bridge, who charted with 'Worst That Could Happen' in 1969.
