Johnny Maestro

Johnny Maestro, born John Peter Mastrangelo in 1939 on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, was an American pop and doo-wop singer who spent decades as a lead vocalist. He fronted The Crests in the late 1950s, scoring a top-five hit with '16 Candles', and later led The Brooklyn Bridge, who charted with 'Worst That Could Happen' in 1969. He continued performing with The Brooklyn Bridge until his death in 2010, and the group was inducted into three major music halls of fame.
