Doc Pomus, born Jerome Solon Felder in 1925 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, was an American blues singer and songwriter who started performing in jazz and blues clubs as a teenager despite walking with crutches after contracting polio as a boy. He is best remembered for co-writing a string of rock and pop hits with Mort Shuman in the Brill Building style of the early 1960s, including 'Save the Last Dance for Me', 'This Magic Moment', and 'Viva Las Vegas'. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Blues Hall of Fame.
