The Highwaymen

The Highwaymen were an American collegiate folk group that formed at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut in the late 1950s. The quintet built their sound around group vocal harmonies and traditional material, scoring a Billboard number one hit in 1961 with their version of 'Michael, Row the Boat Ashore', which sold over a million copies. They continued performing and recording into the early 2000s before retiring after the deaths of founding members Dave Fisher and Bob Burnett.
