The Five Keys

The Five Keys were a rhythm and blues vocal group from Newport News, Virginia, formed in the late 1940s around two sets of brothers, the Wests and the Ingrams, before settling into their best-known lineup. They were one of the groups that helped define the R&B vocal harmony sound of the 1950s, moving between soulful ballads and uptempo material with a roster of strong lead singers. They recorded first for Aladdin Records and later for Capitol Records, where they found their widest audience.
