The Crests

The Crests were a doo-wop vocal group formed in Manhattan, New York, around 1955. They were one of the earlier racially integrated groups in the genre, made up of Black, Puerto Rican, and Italian American members, and they recorded for Coed Records during their peak years. The group placed multiple songs on the Billboard Hot 100 in the late 1950s and early 1960s, with their biggest hit, '16 Candles', reaching number two in early 1959.
