Tennessee Ernie Ford

Tennessee Ernie Ford was a singer and television host from Fordtown, Tennessee, who worked across country, pop, and gospel music. His rich bass-baritone voice carried him to big commercial success, most famously with 'Sixteen Tons' in 1955, and he spent much of his later career recording gospel material for Capitol Records. He remained a popular presence on radio and television until his death in 1991.
