Sonora Ponceña

La Sonora Ponceña is a salsa orchestra from Ponce, Puerto Rico, founded in 1954 by Enrique 'Quique' Lucca Caraballo. The band draws on Cuban son, mambo, and Caribbean dance music traditions, and has been led for decades by Quique's son, pianist Papo Lucca. Over a career spanning more than seventy years, the group recorded dozens of albums and became one of the most enduring ensembles in Latin music.
