Smoky Dawson

Smoky Dawson (1913-2008) was an Australian country music pioneer from Victoria who began performing in the 1930s and kept recording well into the 2000s. He built a devoted following through radio and live performance, celebrating bush life, Australian history, and the values he called his 'code of the west'. His horse Flash became almost as famous as he was, and together they were a defining image of Australian popular culture for generations.
