Michael Murphey

Michael Martin Murphey is a singer-songwriter from Texas, born in 1945, who helped shape progressive country in the early 1970s. His music draws on country, folk, and the traditions of the American West, and later in his career he became a leading figure in the cowboy music revival. He has charted hits across pop, country, and adult contemporary formats over more than five decades.
