Artist
Luis Mariano
Luis Mariano (1914-1970) was a Spanish-born tenor who grew up in France and became one of the most celebrated figures in French operetta after World War II. He trained at the conservatory and made his professional debut in 1943, then teamed up with composer Francis Lopez to produce a string of popular operettas that packed theaters across France and Spain. His warm, expressive voice and stage charisma made him a genuine popular idol on both sides of the Pyrenees.
