Lucha Villa

Lucha Villa, born Luz Elena Ruiz Bejarano on November 30, 1936, in Ciudad Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico, is a ranchera singer and film actress who became one of the defining voices of Mexican popular music from the early 1960s onward. Her stage name was given to her by television producer Luis G. Dillon, combining a nickname for her given name with a nod to Pancho Villa. Alongside her recording career she built a long run in Mexican cinema, which helped her reach audiences well beyond the concert hall.
