Los Panchos

Los Panchos, originally Trio Los Panchos, formed in New York City in 1944, founded by two Mexican musicians, Alfredo Gil and Chucho Navarro, and Puerto Rican musician Hernando Avilés. They are one of the most celebrated bolero and romantic ballad groups in Latin America, built around close vocal harmonies and the distinctive sound of the requinto guitar, a smaller, higher-tuned instrument that Gil himself helped popularize. Over decades, the group sold hundreds of millions of records and appeared in more than 50 films, with songs like 'Besame Mucho' and 'Sabor a Mi' becoming enduring Latin standards.
