Lee Ann Womack

Lee Ann Womack grew up in Jacksonville, Texas, the daughter of a disc jockey, and spent time as a professional songwriter before releasing her debut album in 1997. She works squarely in country music, leaning toward a neo-traditional sound that she has gradually stretched in the direction of Americana over the course of her career. Her voice and straightforward songwriting have kept her rooted in classic country long after many of her contemporaries moved toward a more polished pop sound.
