Julio De Caro

Julio De Caro was an Argentine violinist, composer, and bandleader from Buenos Aires who became one of the central figures in the development of instrumental tango. Starting out in the early 1920s, he led his own orchestra and pushed the genre toward a more refined, sophisticated sound that influenced later giants including Astor Piazzolla and Osvaldo Pugliese. His approach to tango, sometimes called the Decaro school, helped define what modern tango orchestra music would become.
