Josh White

Josh White was a singer, guitarist, and civil rights activist born in Greenville, South Carolina, on February 11, 1914. He recorded across a wide range of styles, including Piedmont blues, country blues, gospel, and traditional folk, building a large following after moving to New York in 1931. He was unusually direct in his protest songs against racism and injustice, which set him apart from most blues artists of his era.
