Helen Shapiro

Helen Shapiro is a British pop and jazz singer born in 1946 in the East End of London. She started recording as a teenager and scored two UK number one singles in 1961, at just 14 years old, with a deep, mature voice that set her apart from her contemporaries. Over the following decades she moved into jazz and gospel, building a career that stretched well beyond her early teen pop success.
