Hawkshaw Hawkins

Hawkshaw Hawkins (1921-1963) was a country singer and guitarist from West Virginia whose deep, smooth voice made him a popular live and radio performer for well over a decade. He worked in honky tonk, blues, and boogie styles, recorded for labels including King, RCA Victor, and Columbia, and became a Grand Ole Opry member in 1955. He died in the March 1963 plane crash that also took the lives of Patsy Cline and Cowboy Copas.
