Ekhymosis

Ekhymosis is a Colombian rock band from Medellín, formed in 1988 by Juan Esteban Aristizábal, who later became the solo superstar Juanes, alongside bassist Fernando Andrés García. The band started out with heavy metal influences drawn from acts like Metallica, and over time worked in Latin rhythms and rock, writing lyrics that often addressed violence and social conditions in Colombia. They built a devoted following in their home country and across Latin America through the 1990s before going on a long hiatus.
