Caterina Valente

Caterina Valente (1931-2024) was an Italian-French singer, guitarist, and dancer born in Paris to a family of Italian circus performers. She sang in thirteen languages and worked across pop, jazz, and vocal standards, building a huge following in Europe before becoming a regular presence on American television, sharing stages with Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, and Ella Fitzgerald. Her early hits 'Malagueña' and 'The Breeze and I' introduced her to British and American audiences in the mid-1950s.
