Cassandra Wilson

Cassandra Wilson is a jazz singer, songwriter, and producer from Jackson, Mississippi, born in 1955. She draws on blues, country, and folk alongside jazz, giving her a sound that sits outside strict genre lines. She has won two Grammy Awards and was named America's Best Singer by Time magazine in 2001.
