Carl Perkins

Carl Perkins (1932-1998) was a guitarist, singer, and songwriter from Tennessee who was one of the founding figures of rockabilly and early rock and roll. He signed with Sun Records in Memphis in 1954 and wrote 'Blue Suede Shoes', a song that became one of the defining records of the era. His style drew on country, blues, and rhythm and blues, and his guitar playing influenced a long line of musicians who came after him.
