Benny Mardones

Benny Mardones (1946-2020) was an American pop and rock singer and songwriter born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised in Savage, Maryland. He built his career writing and recording throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, and his ballad "Into the Night" reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 twice, in 1980 and again in 1989, a rare achievement for a solo artist at the time. His voice leaned toward the warm, emotive side of pop rock, and he remained closely associated with that one song across his career.
