Artist
Astrud Gilberto
Astrud Gilberto was a Brazilian-American singer born in Salvador, Bahia, in 1940, who became one of the most recognizable voices in bossa nova. She first caught international attention in 1964 when her vocal on 'The Girl from Ipanema' became a worldwide hit, helping bring bossa nova to audiences far outside Brazil. She recorded throughout the 1960s and beyond, building a catalog that mixed bossa nova with samba and American pop.
