Al Bowlly

Al Bowlly was a British crooner and dance band guitarist born in Mozambique in 1899 to Greek and Lebanese parents, raised in Johannesburg, and later based in Britain. He was the most popular singer in the UK for much of the 1930s, recording over a thousand songs in a warm, intimate style that defined the era. His best-loved recordings include "Midnight, the Stars and You," "Blue Moon," and "The Very Thought of You," and he also found considerable success in the United States.
